The Chanel COCO CAFÉ is currently the talk of the town. Ever since news broke of this exclusive pop-up store a few weeks back, beauty lovers have been eagerly anticipating its arrival. Time slots that were made available for reservation on the website were snapped up like hot cakes. We were invited down to the media preview of the café prior to its official launch to see if it really lives up to the hype.
Chanel's signature clean-cut monochromatic color scheme featured on the store's exterior popped out amidst the greenery at the Visual Arts Center. Upon setting foot into the café, we were immediately mesmerized with the bright bursts of wild neon pink colors scattered like confetti throughout the establishment. The interior still retained Chanel's classy black and white theme, but the dazzling pop of cheery colors strategically dispersed throughout the café added a certain joie de vivre to the place.
The COCO CAFÉ is sufficiently illuminated with natural light streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows running down one length of the place, which makes for gorgeous phototaking.
Stepping into this beauty paradise might be a little bit overwhelming as there are so many stations that you don't know where to start from. We suggest that you claim your complimentary drink (only for those who have RSVP-ed previously) first before you flit from table to table. Select from a range of fruit juices, coffees and a bubble tea containing pearls that explode in the mouth.
Take a picture in the photobooth for an awesome memento of this chic event. Its purikua-esque features allow users to decorate their photos with adorable Chanel stickers to glam up the photos. The photos drop out into a slot outside the booth within seconds of confirming your picture in as many copies as you desire. The digital image is not the best of qualities, but we are just glad that Chanel made this photobooth available to all visitors regardless of whether they have made purchases or not.
Drop by The Color Bar and request for the assistance from any of the friendly makeup artists for a mini makeover. These beauty ambassadors can recommend various shades of lipsticks, glosses and blushes to suit your skin tone, and other types of Chanel beauty products depending on your lifestyle. They are extremely patient and attentive, and will actively apply and remove the various products that you would like to test out. From my own personal experience, they never made me feel obliged to buy anything despite trying a whole range of products.
The hot topic this season is the new Rouge Coco gloss – a shiny and moisturizing glossimer that comes in 24 colours to suit every taste. You may also mention to your sales assistant that you are interested in trying out the Les Indispensables De L’ete: the Cruise 2017 makeup collection which makes its exclusive debut at the COCO CAFÉ, celebrating that coveted sun-kissed glow.
Pop by The Bubble Counter for a complimentary hand massage with the Hydra Beauty, Chanel’s deeply hydrating and anti-oxidizing skincare line. Let your masseuse soothe your dry skin and stresses of everyday life away with this extremely relaxing pampering session.
You will need pretty nails to accompany that delicate glow of your hands after the massage. Get a complimentary manicure with the Le Vernis range of nail lacquer. This four colors of this season's nail collection are tantalizing shades of red, pink, purple and grey.
Of course, keep in mind that there might be an extremely long waiting time for the hand massage and manicure since everyone will definitely be jumping at this opportunity. While you wait for your turn, you can camwhore with all the gorgeous props planted around the café that includes free lip lollipops, giant perfume bottles, metal cocktail shakers, pink coffee cups, and Chanel books and magazines.
The COCO CAFÉ is not a real café. Food and drinks cannot be purchased here. You are entitled to only one complimentary drink upon arrival. Customers who have purchased beauty products will be given a token which they can exchange for an artisanal dessert which they can enjoy at the plush booth seating.
We have heard from members of the public who have made their way over to the COCO CAFÉ during the weekends that queue times could stretch on for up to two hours even though they have already made a reservation on the event page. However, Chanel has so throughtfully partnered up with Artspace just located next door to organize a fun coloring activity for waiting visitors.
There are many curious tourists and passersby who are also clamoring to get into the sacred grounds, but without confirmation of a RSVP, chances of getting into the café are slim. We do think that the COCO CAFÉ is definitely worth a visit if you are a huge fan of this luxury brand even if its just to take a couple of photos, because there is no denying that this exclusive pop-up is simply très chic.
